I ratified a contract on a condo in Shirlington Village over the weekend. Over the past six months I've done quite a bit of business in and around this neighborhood. Some of the other areas around Shirlington beside the highrise right at the Village itself are "West Village" condos, "The Arlington" Condos, "Windgate" (mostly townhouse style condos), "Courtbridge", "Heatherlea" and some of "Fairlington". Shirlington Crest also has some new reasonably priced Town homes.
This neighborhood has really grown on me. There are so many great restaurants (Carlyle Grand Cafe and Capital Brewing among many others) shops, services (there's a library branch here, movie theatre too) and I am currently torturing myself with a Pilates reformer class at a facility here. It's very close to the W&OD bike trail. It's not really on the metro but there is plenty of metro bus access. Easy access to the Pentagon and Old Town Alexandria as well as DC.
